Minnesotans set a national record by raising more than $14 million for nonprofits
GiveMN.org organized Give to the Max Day on November 17 in which all donations were matched with a portion of $500,000 provided by foundations. The response was overwhelming: 38,778 people donated more than $14 million to 3,434 Minnesota nonprofits during the 24-hour period.
Cabrini Partnership welcomed donations totaling nearly $12,000. Of those who donated to Cabrini Partnership on Give to the Max Day, 26 percent were new donors. Specifically, Cabrini Partnership raised enough money through the fundraiser project “Can you help one homeless person?” to provide an apartment, furnishings and food for the first month for two individuals who are homeless.
“Give to the Max Day was a resounding success,” said Anne Russell, director of fund development at Cabrini Partnership. “Contributions will ensure that we can continue to transform lives such as Jen’s. She is filled with gratitude for all that is available to her as a resident of the transitional house. She appreciates knowing that there are staff and other residents always around to talk to. Free bus passes, made possible by donors, mean she can get to support meetings and treatment.”
In addition to the matching funds, all transaction fees were covered by GiveMN.org partners. Usually nonprofits pay a transaction fee on all donations. But 100 percent of donations (and more with the matching dollars) went to nonprofits. This perk continues beyond November 17.
