Despite a +100 degree heat index, nearly 120 residents and tenants enjoyed the annual picnic at Van Cleve Park Tuesday night. As they have for the past two years, volunteers from Our Lady of Lourdes Church prepared and served a delicious picnic meal. Clients, alumni, staff, volunteers and members of the Board of Directors mingled; a fierce game of dominoes was waged; and a group of clients' children and grandchildren held a gunny sack race. "The picnic is always a relaxed way for us to gather and a reminder that laughter and play are important elements in healing lives and creating community," commented Executive Director Mary Morris.
